Smart building
As a result of the emergence of the Internet of Things, around 50 billion devices across the world will be connected to the internet in just a few years’ time. This enormous increase in the number of connected devices is largely due to the commercial systems being linked to networks.
Buildings are being equipped with increasing numbers of sensors to collect and process data. This data is used to make life in office buildings, healthcare institutions, warehouses and shopping centres more efficient, more economical and more sustainable.
Our role
Forehand is increasingly becoming involved early in the design process of new projects, liaising with the architect, the contractor and the user. In existing company buildings, Forehand liaises with the end user. We work together to develop a platform in which access controls, PA systems, CCTV, lighting and, for example, climate control are optimally coordinated with each other.
The transition to IP
Because of the transition to IP, the number of different infrastructures that need to be installed has decreased. As a result, it has become even more important to choose the right network infrastructure. When it comes to this kind of cabling concept, Forehand works exclusively with leading manufacturers, such as Siemon, Corning, R&M and CCS. If desired, projects can be delivered fully certified, giving you the assurance of a stable system and optimum performance from your network infrastructure and connected equipment.
Direct advantages
The advantages of a smart building are undeniable. In the short term, a smart building lowers energy costs and reduces your carbon footprint. In the longer term, the benefits are:
- Fewer installation and maintenance partners
- Reduced operational costs
- More effective use of resources
- More flexible adaptation to future user needs
