Prefab solutions

Need to save time and ensure 100% accurate connections? We provide fully prefabricated copper and fiber optic network cabling delivered to the desired location.

Prefab cabling from Forehand: tested, labelled and delivered to site on time

Fewer hours on site and no surprises at handover. Forehand supplies copper and fibre connections that are pre-terminated, tested and labelled in advance. Our carrier delivers them on the day you need them.
You install the prefab. We’ve done the groundwork.
We help you find the best solution for your project.

What is prefab cabling and why choose it?

In the traditional approach, every cable is pulled from the reel and terminated on site. That takes hours, specialist tools and experienced technicians. The quality depends on who does the work and under what conditions. With prefab, you move that work to a controlled production environment. Connectors are terminated according to fixed processes, and every connection is then tested. The result: consistent quality, far less work on site and less dependence on scarce specialists.

Prefab cabling with Forehand: from advice to delivery on site

Prefab is more than a ready-made cable. The difference lies in the preparation, the quality control and the logistics. That’s where our strength lies.

  • Advice up front: Where does prefab deliver the most benefit? Where is on-site termination the smarter choice? This way you get a solution that suits your building and your schedule.
  • Every connection tested, with a test report: Every prefab connection we supply comes with a test report. You know in advance that everything works, and you have the documentation ready for handover.
  • Labelled and sorted in trolleys: We deliver every cabling configuration labelled and neatly organised in trolleys. No unpacking boxes, no searching for cables: your installers can get started straight away.
  • Guarantee of 100% correct connections: We guarantee that every connection we deliver is correct. That gives certainty in your planning and saves you from hunting for faults afterwards.

How much time and CO2 do you save with prefab cabling?

Because there’s much less to install on site and every connection is right from the start, the number of hours needed on site drops. Manufacturers cite time savings of 50 to 75% compared with on-site termination.
Prefab is also the more sustainable choice. There’s less packaging, no cutting waste on site and fewer transport movements are needed. That means lower CO2 emissions for your project.

Prefab or on-site termination: Which is right for your project?

Prefab isn’t always the best choice, and we’ll tell you so honestly. It works best when the design is fixed and distances can be measured accurately.

Prefab is ideal for:

  1. Data centres, check-outs, technical rooms and expansions
  2. A tight schedule
  3. Large numbers of connections with consistent performance, such as fibre backbones and copper trunks between racks
  4. Keeping work and waste on site to a minimum

On-site termination is best suitable for:

  1. Buildings under construction or with an irregular layout
  2. Last-minute design changes
  3. Small projects with widely varying cable lengths
  4. Situations where repairs need to be done on site

Often a combination is the smartest option: prefab trunks in the backbone and on-site termination at the workstations. Forehand helps you find the right balance.

How prefab cabling benefits you?

Prefab for installers: The installation team spends fewer hours on site. Quality no longer depends on who happens to be working that day. And because everything arrives labelled in trolleys, you can start right away. That way you get more done with the same team.

Prefab for developers: Prefab cabling makes planning more predictable and delivers guaranteed quality, shorter installation times and a trouble-free handover. You also receive a test report for every connection in advance. And thanks to efficient planning and fewer installation hours on the project, your CO2 emissions are lower too.

Our prefab partners: Siemon, R&M, barpa and Corning

All of these manufacturers produce custom copper and fibre assemblies in their own assembly departments, under an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Every assembly is labelled, so it can always be traced.

Interested in prefab? Here’s how it works:

  1. Request: send us a bill of quantities with the required lengths, a drawing or a cable schedule.
  2. Advice: together with you, we determine where prefab delivers the most benefit and which configuration fits best.
  3. Production and testing: the connections are made to measure, terminated, tested and labelled.
  4. Delivery: by our carrier, in trolleys where needed.
  5. Installation and handover: your team makes the connections, and you have the test report in hand straight away.

Frequently asked questions about prefab cabling

Is prefab more expensive than on-site termination? The material costs a little more than loose cable and connectors. But that’s offset by fewer labour hours, less tooling and a faster handover. On balance, the numbers often come out in favour of prefab.

Can I combine prefab with on-site termination? Yes, and that’s often the best choice. For example, prefab trunks between technical rooms and on-site termination at the workstations.

Do I get a test report for each prefab connection? Yes. Every prefab connection we supply is tested and comes with a test report. It can also be included in the certification.

Do you supply both copper and fibre prefab solutions? Yes. We supply prefab solutions in both copper and fibre, such as trunks, patch cables and cassettes.
